At the same time, greenhouse gases (GHGs) are emitted while raising livestock and transporting meat. According to the Breakthrough Institute, livestock accounts for about 11~19% of global GHG emissions. The methane emitted by cattle and the carbon dioxide by transportation during meat production and distribution contribute to extreme weather events such as droughts and floods.
